The white cat has a very unique place in many cultures, from Burma (Myanmar) to Siam (Thailand) to Turkey.
The Birma, known as the "Sacred Cat of Burma," is a grey and big furry cat that has Siamese features. Its pure white paws are taken to be a special indicator of royalty.
In some accounts, the origins of Birmans are situated in the high Tibetan mountains. They were kept by Buddhist lamas (spiritual leaders). Some versions write that the temple had one hundred white cats.
